At the beginning of March, an extraordinary meeting of the Oil Security Commission (NESO), which is an advisory body to the Chairman of the ASMR SR and whose task is expert cooperation in managing crisis situations in the event of an oil emergency, took place at the headquarters of the Administration of Reserves.
This extraordinary meeting was convened on the basis of the notification of the International Energy Agency (IEA) on the launch of the emergency preparedness exercise ERE 10. The aim of the exercise, held at approximately two-year intervals, is to verify the preparedness of the member countries to manage crisis situations caused by an interruption in oil supplies, on the basis of addressing a hypothetical scenario. The Slovak Republic, as a member state of the IEA, actively joined the exercise, which consists in addressing specific tasks aimed at collectively overcoming the oil emergency that has arisen. The expected duration of the exercise is approximately 2 months.
The members of NESO were informed about the current conditions, requirements and information on the ongoing emergency preparedness exercise ERE 10 and, at the end of the meeting, approved a draft position which they recommended the Chairman of the Administration of Reserves to send to the IEA headquarters in Paris pursuant to Council Directive 119/2009/EC on the release of emergency stocks in the event of an interruption of oil supplies.
